Nighthawk~by Norman Wilson

Nighthawk

A halo surrounds the moon
As the stars surrenders its light
Where a wisp blew a kiss in heaven
Tumbling in tides higher than high

Soaring in waves of a windward plume
Climbing to where hawks will fly
Penetrating the skies alone
To the steeples of mountainsides

Uplifting was the sight of the sun
Hovering from a height above
While the hawk waits for nightfall
Masked in skies feathered in night

They screech soaring in white
Clouded in truth that never fades
For they are royalty of the skies
Who are the masters of their lives
