THE CHILD DREAMS …..~by Rajendra Padhi

The moon like a passerby stops inside his eyes
The child is reddened in smile strange to my mind
Perhaps lost in a dream of fairyland
Flying with wings over the babbling streams.

Is it a land where flowers bloom on barren trees
Talking to bees their beauty the world writes?
Is it the waterfall floating him in a paper-boat
The stars competing with him running in the sky.

The smile stops perhaps the boat is at the shore
Is it the child entering into a silvery forest?
Playing a game with the lion and dear with his dolls
Birds hop and sing clapping though late for sleep.

The child laughs loudly tiptoe I stand watching
Truth in the dreams finds facts too hard,
The gaudy butterfly must be giving a lollipop to him
Let me think how fancy rules us since childhood!
