MacArthur’s Park~by Norman Wilson

MacArthur’s Park

Think fondly of me when I am gone
Think of the words to my favorite song
I would play it over and over again
As it was more than a cake left out in the rain

It was the words to MacArthur’s Park
About yellow icing dripping in the dark
And a love that melted away
That he will remember until his dying days

I would sip on my ice-cold beer
Think of the marriage that disappeared
Like the cake that took so long to bake
That disappeared in the rain of heartaches

Please play my song when I am gone
Then remember I intended you no wrong
For you were the cake left in the rain
That caused my life never to be the same
