Poet’s Diary~by Norman Wilson

Poet’s Diary

Jubilant maze in skies tartan grey
Racing in blue in highlights of hue
Patching tinges of white all alight
In blazing orange kissing the night

Deep was the valley of my thoughts
Fleeing into roving winds uncaught
While trees tower to mountaintops
As the night hatches into raindrops

Sparse was my light to write-to-write
In the sifting of rain framing my night
Taunting my pen in a tale to offend
Bringing pain with rain to my wits end

Irish skies foreboding in deafen thunder
To a bringer of rain for words to wonder
As I mark with pen on sheets of white
Before the last flicker of hot candlelight

Fledgling of prose hatches upon my page
As I stir in emotions of sorrow and rage
To write one more poem before end of life
For choice of ink and quill to quell my strife
