Yellow Rose of Texas~by Norman Wilson

Yellow Rose of Texas

Texas was falling as I was calling
Before my trembling heart tumbled in air
As I tried to cling to white before the night
Veiling the darkness of my despair

She cradled our love with wings of a dove
Floating with swans on a still lake
Dipping a hand in the blue water
As I hunger for the clouds of night to break

She was the Yellow Rose of Texas
Blooming with stately beauty and grace
As my world was falling as I was calling
To the blossoming of her face

I will spend this last night with my comrades
Behind the walls of the Alamo
Thinking of my beautiful Yellow Rose of Texas
That cradles my love before my last breath goes
