Tangled Thread~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

Tangled Thread

Ever read stories and poems and mind wished to twist and change them about?
The temptations so great like the flow of plagiarist bout?

So goes the need great that one struggled and fought
Be original, respect other writers wrote?

Yet words scrambled and mapped other route
Should one write, dissect, use what great ones to mind brought?

Respect and gratitude to what has been read
The possibilities of muddling works one does dread

Should one stop reading, own path to tread
Rejecting the pokes of other’s mind thread?

Other’s worlds as an inspiration
Be it real or written fiction

Yet tempted to redo a master’s vision
Been so since first words gained comprehension

Would authors feel much offended
Would poets feel their works desecrated

Would a reader just be just caged on writer’s view
Not dare touch a painting with one’s own hue?

Must one not another’s thread untangle?
Must one leave as is, not dare to mangle?

Strange is the mind that beast harbour
How to restrain in the name of honour.

  1. made me think of that quote…mediocre writers mimic, good writers steal. 🙂 thanks for sharing.
