Whispering Tears~by Norman Wilson

Whispering Tears

I whisper into my tears
Do not fear for they are only tears
There is but one question I would ask
Why do they whisper back

Each tear sheds for its own story
Earned on battlefields of glory
For glory cannot be candy with ice cream
It can only be a tear, forever whispering back at me

I have witnessed the pain fraught by war
I have seen the pouring blood and gore
Whispering from rows and rows of tears
Whispering words, please no more

The tears fall before the white crosses
Whispering into the wind aloud, please not again
For the fifty thousand teardrops shed
That has fallen to the calling of the rain
