Melancholy Moon~by Paul F. Lenzi

Melancholy Moon

"Blue Moon" Painting by Furiousdreams From

“Blue Moon”
Painting by Furiousdreams

breathing blue ether

fearful taste of another

sad evening unsettled

by too many stars too

far distant beyond

reach of wishing forlorn

to be left in dim light

of an unhappy moon

the mind aches for lost

hope suffers moribund

spirit consumed by its

grief for cold corpses

of days in the sun all

those hours of brightness

no longer sufficiently

fend off the darkness

this body of years bent

and burdened by heavy

grim drape of the night

curls into its misshapen

self till the face of the

moon in its mercy and

modesty finally decides

that it must turn away
