Interim
“Spring Creek in Snow”
Painting by Ben Haggett
From pinterest.com
standing deep in the snow
still of a winterset mind
hearing trickles of melt-water
gather themselves
in thin lazy meander
that follows a low lying trace
at the feet of my forest
spring is like that up here
timid tentative watching
the still sleeping trees
tasting their immanence
seeping from bark
barely breathing the cold
crisply set for retreat
the slow nearing sunlight
comes filtered refracted
in fingers that reach
through the woods
down to find me
unwilling to stir from this
interim crevice in time
thank you for sharing my poem with your readers
