Sea Anemone~by Paul F. Lenzi

Sea Anemone

“Sea Anemones, London Zoo” Photo by Spencer Wright

clings fast to the rock

in the slime of the bottoms

no matter the tortuous truth

in the violent currents

of undersea storms

undeterred from its

instinctive carnivore calling

the animal flower

seductively waves its

bright poisonous tendrils

attracting the credulous

diffident swimmers who

seek a soft haven among

madding welcoming fingers

a rescue from over-rough

waters of rampant reality

only to find themselves

slowly but wholly digested

“In a time of universal deceit –
telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
– George Orwell
