Daily missive breaks into the weekend Sunday the 20th of March.~ The quiet room~by Peter Forster

Daily missive breaks into the weekend Sunday the 20th of March.
The quiet room

There is dread
Even in the most tranquil
Picture book story.
Model family portraits
Peaceful moments
Captured in celluloid
Fading to sepia.
Unfashionable statements
Damaged by flood
And the blood
It takes to move on.
Bringing pleasure
Only when shared.
Tearing at taut
Heart strings.
Opening doors
Locked by minor keys.
Scraping the rust
From frozen dreams.
Sharp breathing
Clutching at
Claustrophobic air
With the raw squeal of
A de-tuned piano.
A painful accompaniment
To even the fondest
Tableau.
What of this quiet vacuum?
The barren flower
Of reminiscence.
Turning back pages
Finding a beginning
Flicking to and fro
Every happy ending
Lost in the rending
Of torn sheets.
So still she sleeps
Her head resting
Against a lovers breast
A silent repose.
Innocence undisguised
As beauty.
A love song heard
In the paradise
Of forgetting.
Respecting its presence
As a reflection.
An almost perfect depiction
Of normality.
Family gatherings
Emotional developments
Connections that transcend
The contemplation
Of time spent
In the negotiation
Of an unending farewell.
