No Cross to Bear~by Norman Wilson

No Cross to Bear

What does life hold so bold yet so cold
In ways I cannot see
There forth,
I must believe in hardships without flowers
Sadly before the hours have soured

For I now wait in penance
Not knowing my own sentence
A sentence that has cast me far aside
Before the sea sends in its last tide
With a trickling wave that comes with a chime

Catch my soul if it falls
Where flowers do not grow at all
For there be a darkness that steals the light
Where whispers chill in the cold night
As I sit huddled in a dash of deadly fright

Lucifer knows me for who I am
Just another ordinary man
That has wronged others without a whim
Now I stand in judgement of all my sins

I have no cross to share
I have no cross to burn or bear
I am just another man
Who tried to do the best he can
