Daily missive for Monday the 21st of March.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Monday the 21st of March.

Even as we empty
Our last grains of
Eternity into
A crystal stream
To be washed
Clean away
Unto the farthest reaches
Of a tranquil sea,
A bottomless ocean,
A fault
In the enfolding,
A well
Of forgotten souvenirs,
The music plays
A hallowed accompaniment.
Who knows how
The rain will fall
From heaven’s gate.
But it falls harder
When the heart is full
And heavy
With the salt of
Dirty teardrops,
Drying into a rime
Of no reason
Other than to season
The smoking
Pall of a defeat
That will never be
Null and void.
But what is losing
When victory
Lies in a deepening
That resonates
With feeling,
As each grain falls
Into a glass
Full of diamonds
Grown to a fine polish
By the brightening
Of a passage filled
With the love
Of lives,
Well lived.
