Daily missive breaks into the weekend for Saturday the 2nd of April. ~In sickness and in health.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive breaks into the weekend for Saturday the 2nd of April.
In sickness and in health.

There is a kind of
Loving
That never dies.
Even if a promise
Made is just a line
Of fine words
More used to ceremony
Than the grit and grime
You find in the
Practice
Of fact and life,
When the true test
Of an oath
Is realised
In beads of sweat
Glistening,
On a lovers brow
Wiped and cooled,
With the turn
Of a tender
Hand,
More accustomed
To the cut and
Thrust of the daily
Grind,
Finding a new
A soft and gentle side.
A steady,
Reassuring touch
In the midst
Of pain and
The fear of an end
That seemed so far
Away those many
Years past
But now
Encroaches
Into the most intimate
Conversations.
As Wordsworth,
Golden fields
And a host
Of dancing daffodils
Are considered
A peaceful
Resting place,
A way station
Between journeys.
A space
More than beautiful,
To spend such time
As infinitely
Endless
Gazing up at the sky,
As to lie
Comparing clouds,
Waiting for
An opening
To make its way
More clearly seen.
To a couple
Of trusting loving travellers,
Waiting side by side
Intertwined,
And never to be parted.
