Daily missive for Monday the 4th of April.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Monday the 4th of April.

On a day of contrasts,
When cherry blossom
Flutters with the haphazard
Grace of a flight of
Purblind Butterflies,
The sky hangs low.
With a false ceiling
Grey and brooding
Masking the truth
Of the blue.
Hiding spring
In the lining
Of an old winter
Coat pocket,
Nestled alongside
A roll of chewing gum
And a piece of string,
Tied in a knot
Of remembrance
So long forgot
It has unravelled.
Though badly frayed
Its use is now well found,
A stem tie
To a royal Amaryllis.
Blood red,
Two heads,
Which once were four,
But are drooping low
With age and expectation,
Patiently waiting to be
Packed away.
Stacked in a box
With the mushrooms
In the darkest corner,
Left to sleep
Until re-birth
And a new beginning,
When once again
It will surely grow
So grandly tall
And regal.
The very pinnacle
Of natural beauty
And the complex
Of a near glorious perfection
