” dawn “~by Raj Babu Gandham

” dawn “

i lost my mother
when i was three
i don’t know even
who was my father
my mother was an orphan
born beside a bin
begged in streets
raped by many
she was mute
even to herself
when she died
i didn’t cry
I felt happy
for she is free
from flesh eating vultures
soul wrenching actions
she left her memory
as a child in my arms
a shoulder, to lean on
a brother to walk along
though we are orphans
we too have souls
we too shed tears
was the cry of my heart
i wailed in silence
i screamed in agony
drank many tears
torn my inside
three i was
tender was i
sleeping on foot- paths
beginning on signal crosses
controlled by * bhai
with no claim of booty
begging only was duty
all the money is taken…
living on morsels
chained to these dupings
we pulled on living
to see the light
to know the life
if not today
tomorrow may be
the day of our

dawn of happiness
