The Republic Stands~by Norman Wilson

The Republic Stands

Do you see the young men
Marching over the hill
From the shadows of the past
For they keep advancing at will

From hearts and souls
Lost in older times of war
They come marching two abreast
As they have done so many times before

A sound of revelry fills-in the mist
To the endless dying
To their cries to resist
Under fog of skies where sparrows are flying

I can hear the drums now
Drums drumming, drumming in my head
Amid soft winds on Blood Hill
Where they play for the dead in a quiet still

The republic still stands
Stands free across the land
As the ghostly figures, keep marching on
Carrying the flag and wearing the colours of Abraham
