Why Have You

Why have you hidden my past
Why my lineage in darkness cast
Ancestor’s honor would have last
Wisdom of future children be vast

Why have you destroyed an articraft
Why left us with just bamboo raft
Why burn the ancient script draft
And pushed my race in history’s aft

Why have you declared us barbarians
When our songs were sung by arians
Knowledge owned by Greeks and Egyptians
Wisdom learned from our sages and artisans

Why have you conquered and destroyed
The life and culture forefathers enjoyed
Why Freedom and God’s name employed
When it’s Arrogance and Greed deployed

Yet my culture you can never erase
For it is written deeper than earth’s face
Embedded in our mind and heart’s base
Our blood’s history academians can trace
