Boko Haram’s Pawn~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

Boko Haram’s Pawn

I have cried for help that awful day
A girl from school, they stole me away
Yet, why a rescue did you keep at bay?
To escape, we had to find our own way

Raped, impregnated with child and disease
Hunger, torture and sickness did not cease
As years went by, did my worth decrease?
Will I remain a dumb sex slave for lease?

Why have we became a political pawn?
Why do powers be, to terrorists fawn?
Why do scams and lies cover your lawn?
Will we, true victims, ever see coveted dawn?

What now, of these years, do you say?
Do I deserve my fate, with monsters stay?
Seek me out under the grounds where I lay!
Let not prejudices, your humanity sway

Hear me out, if your hearts beat today
Let them not, my true story, with greed slay
I too, am human not just a game to play
Have you all forgotten how, iwith tears, to pray?

What happened, that you have forgotten me
Have I become a lesser worth tragedy?
Am I a hopeless case, for your eyes to see?
Just an insignificant pawn in political strategy.
