The Escapist~by Neil Perry

The Escapist

Somewhere, not here, is where he wants to be –
Away from all the chaos, and the noise,
A place perhaps, surrounded by the sea,
A desert island, which would be his choice –
With no one there, a few books there to read,
A plot of land, a place to think and feel
That he is there, enough crops for his need
And water, would add to the appeal
Of wanting to live on an isolated island,
Those things would be enough, nobody talking,
Where living things are tame on sea and land,
And everyone who is not there, not stalking
While he goes walking in his paradise,
Where all he has to hear is just one voice.
