Daily missive for Wednesday the 29th of June.

Even when horizons are wider
Golden sands stretch into the distance
The sky a starling egg blue
Too high to touch
There is claustrophobia.

Chasing black caps,
Secret drinkers
Laze in the shade
Of an old jetty
There are still ghosts.
The wind whispers
Lightly rustling
With hushed voices.
The footprints
Of yesterday’s dreamers
Erased by the beach comber
But their promises
Still hold,
Embedded in the dried wood
Of an old jetty,
Imprinted memories
Inscribed with love.
Captivated souls
Reaching out,
Drawing me closer.
There is
Sweetness in melancholy,
