Daily missive for Friday the 12th of August.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Friday the 12th of August.

What happens
When words fail
As they have before,
When music says more
Than language,
An image portrays more
Than the sweetest rhyme,
The angriest verse.
When a fiction
Is not enough to heal
The disruption
Of beauty,
The soul numbed
By truth refusing to lie
In the shallows,
Drowning in
Worthy hollows
Filled with the salty taste
Of blood and tears.
When fears are lived
Not dreamed
And grief is a blank
Page
When left to fend
For itself,
A prisoner in a cage
Of convention.
Silence is a gift
For a brief moment
Before the walls
Collapse
In a welter
Of confused phrases
And broken English.
Vacuum is more
Than an empty space
It is a dread
Of knowing.
When truths are
More painful
Than you
Would dare to believe,
Their expression beyond
Your reach.
A smile is a window of hope,
A touch carries the
Promise of freedom
In its comfort.
Sometimes words
Are better left unsaid,
Just hold me in your
Thoughts
And take my hand instead.
