Slavery~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

How I have yearned for those days of old
When fields were green and crops were gold
Enkai Narok’s here loving and benevolent
Each sunrise was met as an adventure event

When cattles roam freely and content
When all my trips were for noble intent
The world was then peaceful and kind
Of my skin, none of my brothers mind

But, Nanyokie raised his vengeful hand
He brought tribulations into my free land
Venerable laibon, my fathers he did warn
Veneered visitors to drive out of the barn

Sadly, my people heard not his voice
Arrogantly, they made their choice
Enkai Narok’s gifts we took for granted
Ambition for power, a change we wanted

Fate had us divided as cheap trade slave
How can we now our tribe gather and save?
Our arop have proven to be not enough
Acts of amitu became impossibly tough

How, when from visitors we no longer submit
Yet, we struggle from the evils of our own spirit?
