Daily missive for Friday the 16th of September.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Friday the 16th of September.

I walked
Beneath a canopy
Overhung with abandon.
Countless shades
Too numerous to recall,
No two colours the same.
Low hanging willow
Weeping in sympathetic harmony
As the sun danced
To its own tune,
Through a tumult
Of silent intersections
Seduced by
Twisted branches,
Overcrowded, with
Ripened leaves,
Soaked in the ambience
Feeling the heat.
The ground littered
With the fallen,
Golden angels
With dirty faces.
Nothing disturbs
The sleeping,
Even the river
With its moored narrow boats
Reflects the calm
Of the eternal,
As the full weight
Of the sky
Keeps everything
As it should be.
It was a heaven sent
Postcard morning,
The only thing missing
Was you,
With me.
