Daily missive for Wednesday the 9th of November.
Even in stillness
There is comfort.
The small voice
Imagined,
The whisper of you
Dancing,
A pirouette by moonlight
A ballet of dust moats.
And then I remember
Cigarette smoke
Drifting up through
The projection.
Spiralling in the
Flickering glow
Before the image
Strikes the screen
And explodes
Into technicolour.
America reimagined
In a Bogart scowl
A Monroe wink.
The pillow is a buttress
A warm body
Alongside mine
Lowering anxiety
Reminding me
Of you,
Even in daylight
When absence
Is easier to see.
When eyes close
The dream
Is not over
Though dream it is,
It has more
Reality than movies.
But I would give
All the rubies
In the world
To see another
Moving picture
With you
As the star
It is what you are.
