Daily missive for Friday the 11th of November. ~ The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. ~ by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Friday the 11th of November.

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Stay with me awhile.
Lie beside me
In this darkened place
A dirt filled trough.
I cannot breathe
There is no space
No poppies grow
Is it any wonder?
It is too cold to cry
If you pass on by
Think of me
A moment
And wear a smile
It means more
To me than a buttonhole.
It is what I lived for
The twinkle in your eye
As you waited
For a kiss
Oh what bliss.
To think of all
Your summers
With the sun
Bleaching your hair
Running along the beach
Upon which we once stood,
Without a care.
Is it any wonder
I would love to be there
With you once more.
But here I lie
Is there any one
To stay with me?
It can’t be you
As you still have things to do
But give me a thought
As the lights burn down
On this dark setting.
And in the passing
Of the days
I will wait
Until I am called
To come back home again.
