The Days before Christmas~by Karen King

The Days before Christmas

The Days before Christmas
The time of year is here again, where presents must be bought.
People rush around, pushing, shoving, elbows jabbing.
They barge in the streets, desperate for the perfect present,
with no time left to choose.
The shops are hot and stuffy, there is no room to breathe.
The stink of sweaty armpits fills the air.
People trip over discarded boxes.
Christmas songs are endlessly played in the shopping mall,
tormenting passers-by. The same tunes every year!
Children scream in protest when denied the latest game.
Babies scream in fear at the hustle and bustle.
That time of year is here again.
I long for Christmas Day!
