The Other Man:~by Mohammed Michael Harfoush

The Other Man:

I am

The other man—

Your backup plan

When things

Get out of hand.

I am

The one who waits

For you to call,

Then takes your bait.

I am

The one who loathes

What he’s become,

But cannot break

The spell

You’ve cast.

This once exciting role’s

Become more of a “task.”

The guilt is getting to me,

As I contemplate

What we could possibly be,

If anything?

What price,

For this,

Will we pay?

I want to walk away,

To cut our ties,

To live my life.

I wish I were a better man—

And you,

A better wife.
