Daily missive for Thursday the 15th of December.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Thursday the 15th of December.

Nowhere is home
To the lonely soul.
The wanderer
Lost until found
Sleeping rough
In the hedgerows
Where Robins stay
Warm in their nest.
Keep searching
For what keeps you
From dying
Alone in silence
Bathed in a harsh
Starless night
With no shelter
From the glare
Of a malignant moon
Ringed in blue.
Deeply hypnotic
Even under the cover
Of fallen leaves
And brushwood.
A thankless stare
With no sensitivity
For your feelings.
It is the nature
Of such things as these.
There is no pity
In the open
In the city
Or any place
You want to be.
It is a cold
Solitary winter
For the lonesome soul.
And remember
If you lose yourself
Then you would be
The loneliest
Homeless traveller
Of them all.
