Daily missive for Wednesday the 21st of December.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Wednesday the 21st of December.

Peter Forster's Profile Photo, Image may contain: 1 person, smiling

As I walk
Dreaming of angels
Catching tomorrow
In the reflection
Of the river
Drifting into a memory
Of childhood
When a Mallard
Was a steam train.
My arms are pistons
I am rolling
In a blur
The fields rushing by
Magpies screeching
And the world full
Of aircraft noise.
Supersonic
Louder than a whisper
Softer than a teardrop.
My heart beats
Water is formless
But the river
Is an image of solidity
And invites me
To walk upon it.
But the dream
Of such things
Is long gone
And a narrow boat
Churns up the imagination,
Mooring for Christmas.
Yule logs
Hot mince pies
And Jack Frost
Even on the inside
How do they do it
When it is a choice.
So cold at night
Even lips need de-icing
Yours never did.
A thought to bring a
Spring to my step.
I remember the smell
Of roses
Lavender pillows
Mistletoe
And your smile
Blooming
It is only a dream away
A memory to live by.
