Father~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

Father

Father, for Peace you say you fight
Wars we endlessly struggle in for our right
Death for those who hold power and might
Only then future will be glorious and bright
Yet, why are we in this destructive plight?
Anger, vengeance, and massacres in sight
Father. Where is my much coveted light?

Father, for Peace you say you fight
Wars across the seas to win is our right
For we alone, holds the power and might
Our future will always be glorious and bright
Yet, why are we in this destructive plight?
Arrogance, vices, and crimes in sight
Father. Where is my much coveted light?

Father, for Peace you say you won’t fight
Wars we avoid so we gave up our right
Kowtow to those who hold power and might
So then our future will be secured and bright
Yet why are we in this destructive plight?
Abused, homeless, and slavery in sight
Father. Where is my much coveted light?

Father, for Peace should we run or fight?
Must we struggle so young for our right?
Could love not hold the power and might?
Will we ever have a future, glorious and bright?
Can we escape this destructive plight?
With compassion, respect and hope in sight
Father. Where is my much coveted light?

The more that I grow old
The more the world grows cold
What future have you set in mold
With chaos and evil going bold
Father, please. Lo and Behold
Nothing is left for Life to hold

Father,
Do you still see me?
Do you still hear me?
Do you still love me?
Father…
