The Ghost Of Richard III~by Neil Perry

The Ghost Of Richard III

Being again, as if –
I wander through the field
To where the battle was,
To where I did not yield,

But lost my crown, and died,
Because I was betrayed
By crafty knaves, that saw
Their chance to do their deed,

Stripping my body nude,
That horrid spectacle
Was done for wanton greed
And power that they stole

From off their rightful king
Upon the fateful day;
While on the battlefield
My book of hours lay,

That I had read in hope
That victory was mine,
That I would be again
The victor that would reign,

But now, I wander hence
The victim of their crime,
A king with no defence
Made villain now by time.
