Daily missive for Tuesday the 21st of March.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 21st of March.

Splash me
Wake me from
This impossibility
Wash the grey
With colour
Steal the day
Carry it away
It has no place
In this reverie.
The bubble burst long ago
Technicolour spray
Turns so quickly
Into the beige of despair
The dirty brown of neglect.
It has weight
This crushing bore
The fade no more than
A respite
As life is sucked
Into the scenery.
A brief flair
Of pleasant green
A vestige of
English pasture
Flips between
The edge of sight
And the middle foreground
As it coalesces
In defeat.
The day too drab
To succeed in
Presenting a grand
Display.
What of mood
When life can so easily
Be drained from the soles
Of your feet.
What ancient days are these?
They know so much more
Than I
How hard the rain falls…
Defending themselves
With little effort
Rolling into tomorrow
With barely a whimper.
Renewal
Would be so much easier
With the quiet wisdom
Of the old days
To rescue time.
