Daily missive for Wednesday the 22nd of March.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Wednesday the 22nd of March.

It blows
A chill wind
To remind me
Of the time
We would warm
Each other
With a kiss
Rub noses dreaming of igloos
Temperatures rising
On crystal clear mornings.
The snow drops
Remember
Giggling like school
Children
Laughter a whisper
Barely heard
Above the raucous
Peel of returning geese
Warning off the swans
Intent on staking a claim
To the fishing rights.
What do swans make
Of the traveller
Never do they ask
But are consumed
By their days
Living in different ways
What happens
If their love dies.
Two by two
They fly
See them in silhouette
At sunrise
Loyal by royal
Command
Paddling wildly
With barely a ripple
Breaking the surface
A picture of serenity.
Only they know
What it takes
To stay together
Through the lean times
And still they kiss.
Gracefully necking
Rhythmically entwined
What bliss.
