Daily missive for Thursday the 23rd of March~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Thursday the 23rd of March

Is it over
Before the end
Has even started.
Did I miss the credits
Listing my misdeeds.
Overlaying each mistake
With a reference
To a different possibility.
Is that what is meant
By an accounting
But there is no taste
To take the place
Of a truth
When so few
In fact exist.
Misplace me
See if anyone will notice
The difference in style
When some other
Recovers my
Behind the sofa
Or beneath the bed.
Better to have fled
Than wind up dead
Holding the reins
Of the horsemen
They take no prisoners.
Many an innocent
Has been lost
Their fresh faced smile
Wiped away
In the blinding
Before the sun sets.
Be careful of the melting.
A molten landscape
Bleeding into
The sodden earth
What will replace it.
So much is grey
Even the sky has
Given up the ghost.
Flitting in and out
Between the raindrops
A sadly apt wraith
Pilfering daydreams
Filtering them of colour
Hanging them out to dry.
Thermal wear
Rising falling
Fluttering in the breeze.
Waiting for the sun
To help the colours run
Lifting the fallen spirit
Before the reckoning
Is vandalised
And the total fracture
Of this misplaced soul
Is realised.
