Daily missive breaks into the weekend Saturday the 25th of March.~ Rites of spring~by Peter Forster

Daily missive breaks into the weekend Saturday the 25th of March.
Rites of spring

It would be too easy
To revel in the day.
Spring is time served
And has been
Sprung from behind
The bar where it
Drank its way
Through low spirits
A winter of austerity.
It dances now, with all
The majesty
Of a sailors hornpipe
In the hands
Of a dispraxic
March hare
Whistling in the wind.
This is the first anniversary
Of the last waltz
Which ran away
With the class
Of sixteen
And left the soles
Of its soft shoes
Stuck in the mud.
Too many broken
Finger nails
Have scrabbled in dirt
For a purchase.
Holding on
Without a receipt
Hoping for a return
On their investment.
Barely worn days
Have been thrown away
With the bad news
In the hope
A return of the sun
Will turn things round
Ease the furrowed brow
More troubled
Than ploughed.
Fallow is the belief
That changing times
Will bring relief
When what you need
Is an ounce of mixed seed
And the peace of mind
To plant it.
