Daily missive for Friday the 31st of March.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Friday the 31st of March.

Are we alone
It seems so
Standing in the half light
Ethereal though it may be
Nothing moves
That should not.
Even the ripple in the sky
Is a fruit bat
The cry like a frightened child
An old cat.
It is easy to believe
You hear me
It is what I need
To negotiate the disparity
Between worlds.
Nothing lies hidden
In the line breaks
Between the edge
Of the page
And the centre
These are only words
Too discrete to dissolve
A rock solid wall.
Nothing will recall you
From beyond the veil
Although I recall
It all.
Even the night
We stared into
The shadows at a
Healthy rural fox
Its brush thick and luxuriant
Sheltering under
The violet sky
Waiting for morning.
It was humbling
To be so close
To another creature
With an altogether
Different take on the world.
I want you
To hear me
And if you do
Then it will be true
We are not alone.
Perhaps the simplicity
Of a wish is all it takes
To believe.
I will be relieved
To know what it is
That lies between
The ending of one
Dream and the beginning
Of another.
If it is something other
Than the credits
It must be a
Changing the reels.
And if it is
I will have to wait
For the main feature
To begin
Before moving on.
It will be a talking
Picture of you
And I hope this time
It will have
A happy ending.
