The Ancient Mariner,~by Akshaya Kumar Das

The Ancient Mariner,

A marine creature,
A daredevil adventurer,
Ventured into the rough sea without any fear,
In a small dinghy put his life as a sea farer,

Sailed into the sea without knowing any navigation,
Aimlessly sailed miles & miles missing the destination,
Never knew the point of return,
Sailed aimlessly without any intention,
Discovery was his only ambition,

Sailed alone in the solitude of the vast ocean,
Water, water everywhere only saline water,
Compulsively drank the saline nectar,
Compulsive calamities made him a sea creature,
Facing the odds the mammoth whale to sharks at times so near,

The hunger met with the daily catch,
That was abundant,
Consume saline water to meet the thirst,
A thin layer of saline salt,
Became his passion to quote,
Nautical miles he travelled without feeling spent,

His mission of discovering the geographies was his penchant,
As he looked at the vast stretch of water he felt more & more to find by default,
At times landed at islands never known to his wit,
At times vast geographies in sight,

He was the ancient mariner a poet can imagine,
Salute to courageous sea faring mission,
Never could describe his discoveries to any one,
Cooly travelled into a mysterious domain,
Never for a moment regretting his fanatic ambition,
