Daily missive for Thursday the 13th of April.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Thursday the 13th of April.

Look at it sideways
A healthy mistrust is a must
In the midst of life
When the flight
Of a shooting star
Is a falling satellite
And nothing to wish upon
The world is a time limited
Response to a theory
In astrophysics
Love an anomaly unaccounted for
In the quest for survival of a species.
Read a treatise on logic
Humans barely figure
In mathematical forms
Falling outside the established norms
Of probability.
We change when we need not
Stay the course
When we should steer clear
Drift away when
It makes more sense
To stay close
Acting on impulse
Choosing our paths
For differing reasons
Never easy to determine.
Predictable in turns
And on occasion
A complete unknown
Straying far from home
Into the realms of reason
The outer limits of established thinking.
Too much drinking
Makes the world turn
A little faster or slower
Dependent on the firing of neurons
And the dying of new ones.
There is little doubt
Is a function of the brain
We would be better off without
But it keeps us real, illogical
Invariably obtuse
Sometimes of little use in a crisis
Overly dependent
On the pharmacological
Too attached to the mundane
To be radical
And as rumour would have it
Too uniquely human
To be little more
Than an animal
If what will be will be
Take the key
Unlock the mystery
Set the caged bird free
