Daily missive breaks into the weekend for Saturday the 15th of April.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive breaks into the weekend for Saturday the 15th of April.

Nothing exists
In divine perpetuity
Isolation is a cross
Upon which we are all nailed.
Sorrow is a given
To carry the day
Words are but empty phrases
Hollow spaces
Vacuumed from dusty pages.
The folded leaves have flown
And I am lost
With nothing to hear
But the scratching of
Dry sticks
Trying to create a spark
From tiny scraps of tinder.
What of the music
I used to hear floating
In the whisper of morning
It is nothing but an echo
Of goodbye
Listen as it melts into
The forgotten.
Nothing is to be believed
Until the morning
When the hush of silence
Is filled with the warning of regret.
A foolhardy response
To the extinction of promise
The replacement of love
With the call of the years
And an acceptance of loss.
For all it is worth
It weighs
More than the life it leaves
Sleeping in firelight
Dreaming of rainbows
Floating in tears of uncertainty
Bled from rheumy eyes
Fooled by a blind
Hope of redemption.
When so little remains
Of the beauty
Once paraded as paradise
How do I separate
Truths from lies
And if I do
When will this be realised.
