When she dropped her Childhood away.~by Mandour Saleh Hikel

When she dropped her
Childhood away.

******************************
She was yet a child
Who should worry about nothing
Except for running and jumping
While angels look after her
When she cries or laughs
And happily when she plays
Resting for a while
Then jumping and running again
Happily, tracing a heav’nly ray .
Yes..
She was yet a child
That wonderful creature
That was meant to be
Our mind- peacefulness
The innocent smile
That flies our sorrows away

Then
In one of those days
When the lord of war
Came her way
The Satan himself…
So, she was driven
Like innocent sheep of a herd
And with a herd
Into what was known later…
As THE SHELTER
THAT SHELTER.

God…
Does she still remember
She painfully does…
Though she thought
She buried that memory
Underneath a scary silence
In a dark of blues…
That was dressed in grays
Far beyond her memories can hold
Yet nearest to her tortured fairy stray
In the day…
WHEN SHE DROPPED HER CHILDHOOD AWAY.
