Daily missive for Tuesday the 18th of April.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 18th of April.

Nothing endures
Without undergoing
Change is a constant
Worry in the fleeting
Beating of the
Bravest hearts.
Only its progress
Can be traced
In episodic transmutation
As energy is diverted
From one thing
Unto another.
How does that help
When the value
Of life is held
In such short supply
We clutch it for fear
Of losing our grip.
With every step
We risk a slip back
Into the slough
Of primordial ignorance
From which we escaped
When love released
The poetry in our souls.
Though noble
Is unbecoming in the realm
Of sociability
But unlike a physical law
Even when circumstance
Is presented
In the right order
Opposites may not attract
The like-minded might well not
And situational gravity
Is a concept so easily
Trapped within this
Finely wrought balance
Our love was torn apart
Even though we were
Inseparable in spirit
Nothing endures
The insipient brutalist
Continuity of metamorphosis
Without a cruel vexation.
If I was unable to save you
What became
Of the energy we created
Has it dissipated
Or will you find a way
Through the great divide
Charged by the love of ages
To bring about the changes
That will transform
This stagnant heart
And save me.
