Daily missive for Tuesday the 30th of May.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Tuesday the 30th of May.

Some day
It might be easier
To let go
Instead of remembering
Where he is
Who might be listening
What might get broken
In the release.
One day
When another
Stranger looks aghast
As he is overheard
Talking out loud
To himself in a crowd
As if it matters
He will explode.
Nobody cares a new penny
For his thoughts
But it is odd
The way he laughs
For no reason
And one day he did cry
At the checkout
When after buying
A bouquet
The cashier asked
‘Who is the lucky girl?’
And he mumbled
‘They were once for her
But now they’re for me
To remember.’
At least she didn’t
Ask if he had
Been misbehaving
That might have
Raised the hackles
Released the shackles
Elevated more
Than an eyebrow
But he held on to it all
Locked it away
For another day.
Tomorrow he may wake up
And the mist
That surrounds him
Will have lifted
Too reveal the horizon
But it will never be
Totally gone
At least
Not for too long.
