Today the soft snow fell silently.~by David Christian

Today the soft snow fell silently.
Quietly it surrounds my home.
Gone the youthfulness of green grass.
Missing the warmth of another day.
Radiant rays of summer are absent.
Will the hues of autumn return?
How can I experience the beauty of winter?
Winter finds me sheltered from the cold.
Absent are the fresh smells of spring.
What face of beauty is in the winter chill?
Buffered by warmth,
Viewed from a frosty window,
I see the beauty of snow.
White is the brightness of stillness,
Reflects light into darker feeling.
One pervasive singular whiteness,
Vivid is this oneness of color.
A simply blanket of icy muteness,
Rebirth a promise of tomorrows yet to come.
