HOW I WONDER~by Balachandran Nair

“Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars
How I Wonder What You Are”,
Moms from adjacent high-risers sing
Feeding their little ones, showing stars
High above in sky, shining all the time.
During day time, feeding the children,
Moms repeat the song showing us,
Far below in shabby old-age home,
Roam around in despair, murmur,
Limping, falling, grinning all the time.
Hearing those Moms sing
We too sing in unison
Yet wise not-to let them hear,
“Humble, Humble, Scarce Scars
How We Wonder Who We Were!”
