The shoeshine boy ~by Nutan Sarawagi

Inspired by Radhakrishnan the poet

The shoeshine boy
***********

Image may contain: 1 person, sitting

In my rush
I lost my brush
as the municipal truck rushed
pushing me in
last glimmer of hope
looking me in
gone within
lost to me
as they thrust me in the van with boys like me
in a livelihood to kill no remorse for me
when will my fortitude end in lifes demand of me
as I fill myself with hopes to knock
in the shine of my life to rub off
soiled hands toiled in a time that knows not
what it stores for me but I am still well off
dusting shoes the grime of life off
of soiled shoes alone as they lie
looking at me in eyes that cry
mirror in me your life dear boy
for you are the life we were made to be
I rub off you..you rub off me
shine me in my shine
shine in your tears of me
in your tears to mirror me
the shine in me
