LOVE IS A LONG WAY~ by Dipanwita Chakraborty Mukherjee

LOVE IS A LONG WAY

Image may contain: one or more people, cloud, sky, mountain, outdoor and nature

There lives a maiden down the hill, in the mansion of her father’s feat
The way the wind blows her hair, the way she sings in the fair
She makes my heart skip a beat
I was a low ranked cavalryman, snuck out on a horse to steal her glance
I was thrown by her guards, but I’m a lover marred
To her I stoutly pranced.
But mate, but mate
Love is a long way…
We’ve been tested by time, we’ve been tested by war..
But remember our love shouldn’t sway…
Now I’m on the other side of the hill,
Thinking what she must now feel
Midst of guns and wounds, there’s a heart which is doomed
Homecoming is a long way…
Love is a long way…

  1. That’s the perfect poem for a soldier returning from war.
