Daily missive for Friday the 15th of September.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Friday the 15th of September.

Wash me
Rinse away the stain
Yesterday is gone
It has left its mark
Punctured dreams
Deflated hearts
In this sad demise
It drained the well
Of good will
So carefully saved
To carry me through tomorrow.
Take the cloth
Bind my eyes
There is nothing to see here
Not until sunrise
And to say
It is a changing world
When no two
Trees are the same
Every sky is another colour
Fresh winds
Spread new whispers
Which grow
Into important conversations
That exclude
Those who do not speak
For want of trying
Is a fatuous remark.
A whistle in the dark
Left by
The passing
Of another day
When strangers
Barely touch
Or scrape the surface
Of their dust bowl
For fear they will
Disturb the air.
Dry my eyes
Perhaps tomorrow
Will bring more
Than a stale reflection
A lost promise
A token
To disregard
In favour of pragmatism.
Stay this artless run
Headlong
In search of surprise
A trip will
Bring a heavy fall
When all is done
There is little fun
To be had in cynicism.
Your soul is lost
In fanaticism
And there is no rest
For the sleepless
In somnambulism.
