PILGRIMS OF PAST~by Jyotirmaya Thakur

Pilgrimage to heaven is on the cards ,
On paths Untrod, unseen by wards ,
Glow of fame, pine for love consumed,
A life of desires unsung by bards.

The eerie hours sing a sombre truth ,
A crown that carved and fed the youth,
When death ceased breath uncouth,
The brittle bones of heroes smooth.

The frozen face emotionless sleep ,
Running the race wasted weep ,
Blurred assurances fancies high ,
Float towards holy land of sighs.

Beneath heavy stones in wormy trunks ,
Ambitions lie in ageless mud sunk ,
Attired with wreaths of failed repentance,
Perturbations cloud on time deceit immense.

The battered soul betrayals sense ,
On plateaus trot to forests dense ,
Hopes anew when death decrease ,
Future pilgrim lay beneath the trees.

Death laughs at all foolish resolve,
The spring of mirth, worthy life involve,
In distant secrecy of lying alone ,
Unsolved mystery under steep height stone.

Vagrant gypsies haunt the bowers ,
Rustling leaves rest in showers ,
Sad graves ruminate in the past ,
Mortal moments chase ends at last.
