BIG, BIGGER, BIGGEST~by Balachandran Nair

A shirt I got as a gift precious
On birthday was big in size
Being generous I wanted to gift it
To some poor beggar on street.
Went to a famous temple nearby
Where most beggars dwell by.
I saw a crowd in temple front
Present was a VIP, other few learned
An old lady in filthy attire was
Being honoured with a shawl wrap
Other beggars surrounded applauded
The old beggar for donating a hefty
Rupees three lakhs to God Almighty.
Function over, they sat there begging
As if nothing new happened.
I hid my gift, turned back, walk
Wondering how much I’m rich
To gift a present to a beggar2
Who feed on HIS name and
Feed the BIGGEST the same!
